About the Author

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) is best known for the classic devotional My Utmost for His Highest. Born in Scotland, Chambers had a teaching and preaching ministry that took him as far as the United States and Japan. He died at age forty-three while serving as chaplain to Allied troops in Egypt during World War I.

This is a must read for everyone to better understand yourself and others (soul, spirit, heart, mind, self, ego, personality, and body) and to learn how the inner man or heart (not the brain!) is the radical center of all life, thinking, reasoning, perception, meditation, choice, love, judgment, estimation, hate, conscience, belief, disbelief, memory, imagination, and much, much more. The heart is the laboratory of life, the innermost indwelling of the Triune God or Satan. He explains the "rightly related" to God hearts vs. the darkened and hardened hearts "from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts."This is a most intricate and technical book that takes some study that can open our understanding with enlightenment, knowledge, and wisdom of the heart, soul, and spirit. I have read it 3 times, taking notes, highlighting, and learning with more insight each time I read a section! This book reinforced many gospel principles we were taught growing up. I found it strengthening to go over these with all the Scriptures to back up what was said. Praise the Lord for Oswald Chambers and his faithful wife.

Only about half way through, but Chambers is blowing my mind. I've been using the journal version of My Utmost for His Highest and thank God for it! So grateful to have discovered this blessed and anointed man.

Oswald Chambers is absolutely brilliant. Now, there are some things he discusses in this now book which most Christians now understand differently. Primarily the connection between the "soul", "heart of man" and the "mind" have been grown upon since science has expanded. So, yes, do read with care. But there is so much brilliance in these pages which will benefit anyone whose mind and heart can grap these things.

This was an older book from a surprising author (how many knew that Chambers wrote more than My Utmost For His Highest?) that brought great biblically-grounded perspective to what it means for someone to NOT gain the world and lose their soul.

I very much enjoyed this book. Oswald had amazing insight into the Word of God! I am very intrigued by this mind of Chambers as its obvious the Mighty One helped construct such a personality and intellect. You don't have a mind produced like this without the arm of God.

I have been studying the Bible for about 26 years . I have been raving about this book to my friends on the insight on scriptures that I just hadn't studied as much as others and exactly where we are in society and it's struggle with the human race and difficult people and situations .
