James A. Sanders is President Emeritus of the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center in Claremont, California. I read the first edition years ago. This edition simply adds to my respect and admiration for the genius of James A. Sanders! A must read for every student of Scripture!

this is an excellent book for anyone interested in gaining a deep understanding of the process of the formation of the biblical canon, particularly the Hebrew scriptures. it makes a great addition to my personal library in this area of study, and i have made use of this book for classes i have given on the subject of canon formation. i refer to it regularly. also it is written in a clear and understandable manner, which is not necessarily so easy when dealing with a subject as vast and complex as the process of biblical canon formation.
